SFGate is a hugely popular news website in the San Francisco bay area. SFGate is the online presence of The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. You can find most news material from The Chronicle online at SFGate, with a few exceptions. You’ll also find San Francisco area traffic, weather, classifieds, business and technology information, and a lot more. SFGate is an incredible resource for anyone living in San Francisco, or anywhere in the SF bay area. The only website that rivals SFGate for popularity in San Francisco is Craigslist, in my opinion. Things like freelance material, sunday inserts, and others are not on SFGate. You’ll find Associated Press news on SFGate, but it is not archived like the articles that are written by Chronicle news and SFGate staff. Chronicle archives are available going back to 1995, but if you need something prior to then and don’t find it on SFGate, you’ll need to contact your local library. Your local library can direct you to a source or help you arrange a loan of the content from another library. Photos you have seen on SFGate may be available for purchase, you’ll need to contact them for details on that. Generally, 8 1/2 x 11 prints run about $45 and it takes SFGate about four weeks to fill your order.
